Crash and Burned

So yesterday I totally broke down. I was thinking about not eating out all day that all I could think about was eating out! So here is what I ate.

  • 1 Granola Bar - 90 Cal
  • 1 Trail Mix Bar - 140 Cal
  • 3 bites of a co-worker's burrito - 100 Cal
  • 1 Lean Cuisine - 300
Yeah doing good up til there.....

  • 1/2 CALIFORNIA BURRITO FROM RAMIREZ - 500,000 Cal
  • 1/4 OF THE HALF SUPER NACHOS FROM RAMIREZ!!! 1,000,000 Cal
Okay, I don't know how much that crap was. Lets say....900 Cal? The point is, I messed up and I am totally bummed. I just gotta get back on the horse.

Also, I feel like crap today. This always happens when I eat really unhealthy foods. My back is burning, my tummy aches, and I just hurt all over. So there ya go.

On the upside I got told I look like a blond Audry Hepburn. Please excuse the massive roots.

If I Were a Skinny Girl...

K, so, I decided Tuesday's are going to be, "If I Were a Skinny Girl" day! This blog was getting boring for me to write, so heaven forbid my friends who are too nice to not read this...have to read it....the point is, I get bored easy. So on Tuesday's I'm going to post some cute clothes that I find and that I dream about wearing if I wouldn't inevitably get what my sister and I call, "dunlop's disease". (Where your belly "dun" "lops" over your belt.) I am listening to indie music on Pandora for inspiration.

Our first outfit thinger dinger here is what I would potentially wear to work. You know, if I were a skinny girl....and rich.

Pants, Jacket & Purse: Forever 21 Ring: Urban Outfitters Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

I'll report on what I ate today tomorrow!

chirp.....chirp...

That's the sound of my blog during Thanksgiving break. I had high hopes to stick to goals and blog everyday, buuuuuuuuuuttttttt alas, one of the first things we did when we got to Colorado was go to Red Lobster, aka my favorite restaurant!! And you really can't go to Red Lobster without getting the coconut shrimp with pineapple sauce and steamed crab legs! Needless to say, I ate a couple fried things but I really did do better than I usually do during Thanksgiving break.

I did however meet one of my goals, kind of.. I ran a HALF MILE! ON THE FIRST TRY! Now the other part of running a half mile was to do it easily. I really didn't do that part, I was heaving like Darth Vader by the end but I was still proud of myself for doing at least that much!

Goal:
  • Blog everyday this week
  • Return to better eating habits
  • No eating out

wuh oh

I missed a day of blogging, ahhhhhhhhh!!! The end is neeeaaarrrrr lkjakfjneianveoakdjfsalk!!!!!!!!!! This was actually due to the fact that I skipped both my classes yesterday, worked for only 2 hours, went tanning, and had hubby drive me to Idaho Falls because I had accidentally washed my last pair of contacts down the drain and was therefore blind. I am now lobster red, not blind, and happy!
Anyway:
GOAL ACHIEVED!!

Even though I started this blog on Tuesday, I hadn't eaten out since last Saturday. I haven't eaten out yet but I probably will tomorrow since we'll be traveling. But I made some goals that I think will work out well!

Here's what I ate:

Thursday:
Yogurt: 110 Cal
2 pieces of whole wheat toast: 140 Cal
2 extremely thin slices of pie: its the holidays, what was I supposed to do?!? 250 Cal
1 Lean Cuisine: 280 Cal
1 half piece of cake: Chelse's b-day party... lets say... 250 Cal, like the pie.
2 Quesadilla's on whole wheat tortillas w/ pepper jack cheese: 450

Grand Total: 1510 Calories

Not bad, but I think I need to eat healthier things! I stayed low on the calorie side, and I wasn't hungry all day, but I think I could replace the pie with an orange.

K here goes Friday:

Yogurt: 110 Cal
Trail Mix: 310: Cal
5 whole wheat crackers & 5 slices of pepper jack cheese: 246 Cal
1 home made burrito w/ fat free refried beans, brown rice, home made guac: 350 Cal
1 Quesadilla on a whole wheat tortilla w/ pepper jack cheese: 225 Cal

Grand Total: 1241 Calories

I am a bit worried about this next week! We will be traveling to Colorado and traveling rarely goes by with out a stop at a fast food chain. Trent's parents are always so nice and take us out to dinner. So, I will deal with this by making a goal to not eat anything fried!

Goal for Week 2:
  • Nothing fried, portion control, nothing bigger than my fist.
  • Run a half mile, no sweat. (This may seem small, but it's really hard for me to even run 1/4th of a mile!) Trent's parents have a treadmill in their basement and I will be working out this goal there!

Booyah Achieved

WOW, I seriously have amazing friends. I have gotten so many emails, comments, messages etc with support and suggestions! Thanks you guys, it really does help to have people rootin for me! This blog has already made me more concious about what I eat. Usually, I would just eat without thinking! Sometimes I would literally not remember picking up a piece of food because I had no filter. Not to say that I'm cured, but it helps putting everything out there for others to see!

So here is what I have gotten out of the comments, please keep letting me know what I can do to do even better!:
  • Whole wheat and whole grains - these will keep me fuller longer
  • At least half of my carb intake should be complex carbs, haha which apparently means the whole wheats and grains.
  • Lots of fruits and veggies
  • Meats - Chicken and fish, I am trying to cut red meat out of my diet. Not because I'm against cow killing....(as long as it's humane) but because my body just can't process it very well. My tummy goes, grrummmbblleleee grrrrraaaaarrrrrrrr. You get the picture.
  • When baking, using applesauce instead of oil. Hah, I don't bake, but if I did, I would do this.
  • Protein
  • WATER
  • 1 hr of exercise.
K so, that's a lot! It's easy to get overwhelmed when trying to be healthy, so that's what the weekly goals are for.

What I ate yesterday:

1 Granola Bar: 90 Cal
Trail Mix Bar: 140 Cal
Apple: 110 Cal
Yoplait Yogurt:100 Cal
2 Peanut Butter M&M's: hah let's say 50 Cal
6 mini Lemon O's: ....300 Cal.....I'm ashamed.
Dinner: Kilbasa + Brown rice + Mixed Veggies: 400 Cal
2 Diet Cokes: ...well they say zero Cal but sodium makes you retain water.....hah ill quit these some time or other!

GRAND TOTAL: 1190 Calories, I know that's low!! and I didn't eat very good stuff, I just get working and doing school stuff and I forget to eat!

Exercise:

Hah, so I guess I can't really count the fact that I walk my tooshie all over campus everyday, but Trent and I did do a few mini exercises last night. Its not what you think, I swear!

100 Crunches
7 push ups - yes, that is all I can do.
20 kipping sit ups, (thanks Rach!)
5 reps of yoga, (5 deep breaths per hold) including, downward dog, Chaterannnggaa..spelling? and cobra.
1 rep of kanoodling, yes, it is what you think.

Jack in the Box, Thy Name is VIXEN

Oh how I love Jack! I love going and getting their greasy tacos that look like they have been sat on by an enormous person. Maybe they have been and how they get those enormous people to do the sitting on tacos job is by feeding them delicious tacos which makes them enormous. Its a deathly cycle.

So I crave these little babies like everyday! And yesterday, do you know what happened?!? On the day I started this little blog, on the day I made a goal not to eat out, THEY STARTED HANDING OUT FREE TACOS!! I admit, I almost broke down. It's not eating out if you didn't have to pay for it right?!?

Well, I didn't do it. Thanks to my wonderful husband who reminded me that I had made a goal as well as a commitment to the blogging world. Instead, we went home and made fresh guacamole. It was late, and I know you shouldn't eat that late, but I didn't eat out and that's the point!

Yesterday I ate:

1 Granola Bar: 90 Cal
Trail Mix Bar: 140 Cal
Apple: 110 Cal
Yoplait Yogurt: i cant spell yogart... it was 100 Cal
Nuts: 140 Cal
Peanut M&M's: 200
4 small licorice pieces: who knows?!? lets say 200
Lean Cuisine Dinner: 320 Cal
Guacamole: uhhh 150?
Mango Salsa: 100
Chips: 150

Grand Total: hold on...cannot compute.....1700!! I guess that's not bad, I'm not really sure, but the goal right now is not eating out.

You know what would be awesome? I know that there are different foods that will last in my tummy longer but are still low in calorie, if you know them, tell me! I think that is part of why I am a huge snacker, I get hungry very fast. I still don't understand the differences between carb's and complex carb's etc. Baby steps, baby steps!!

So, here's the thing.

I am on a mission. I'm not starting this blog to whine, I am starting it to keep a check on myself! Over the past two years I have gained 40 pounds and am in constant pain. I hurt all over my body and I can't do a lot of the things I used to. I know I'm not fat, but dang it I am unhealthy! I know that a lot of other people are going through what I am, it totally sucks but no one is to blame but me! I have never really been in shape, I have always had this belly, (whom I affectionately named "Bob"), and I have never been able to run a mile.

So the goal is to report every single day what I eat and just how things are going. I am going to set goal for myself and try and keep them! For those of you who know me, you can probably see this blogs stopping in like 2 weeks, but hey, I gotta try! I really am curious to see if it's true that if you change your diet, you can drastically improve your health. Doctors have been telling me to do this for years and I haven't ever stuck with it.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know! I will be starting out with weekly goals that are very small, so lets see how this goes.

Here are the stats:

STARTING WEIGHT: 170lbs.

CONDITION: I can run one lap on the track before my lungs start exploding. Flexibility is okay thanks to some Yoga, but especially in the morning, I can't bend very well. My tummy hurts all the time, and my body aches all over. My main problem is my belly and love handles.

ULTIMATE GOALS:
  • Lose 40lbs.
  • Be able to run a mile, no sweat.
  • Eat healthy, very little meat, lots of whole grains, lots of veggies, portion control, etc.
 Week One:

Goal: Don't eat out. This may seem simple to most of you, but my husband and I have never gone a full week without eating out. This drains our money and just packs on the pounds!
